Dear Friend,
Welcome to the next every once-in-awhile “Hot Sheet”.
It’s unbelievable how much a little 7lb bundle of joy can disrupt your life. If you didn’t get our “Baby Z” sale notice, I’m happy to announce our first child, Zachary Aleksandr Silver was born on Aug 24th and he’s really turned our house upside down. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining – just shocked and how my “little buddy” can cause such upheaval.
Of course to me – everything is marketing. So this is actually a great case study. He’s a bit fussy and maybe even colicky so Missy has gone on a buying spree dictated by our new situation in life. She’s surfing the web looking for anything to make the little guy go to sleep. We’ve bought 5 Audio CDs of ‘white noise’, ‘womb noises’ and even a vacuum cleaner sound. Then she’s bought 2 DVDs, 3 books and 4 swaddle blankets. Hmm…oh yeah, and we hired a “sleep coach” @ $150/hr. Don’t ask. :)
This example really proves how the more pressing the need/want (i.e. completely sleep deprived) will result in instant sales. This also goes back to not selling prevention but selling cures. I do have to admit the CD with the noises to mimic the womb actually work. I couldn’t believe it Zak looks like a deer in headlights and calms down as soon as we play it. So after seeing it work – Missy ordered 4 copies of the CD online so we have one in the car, one upstairs, one in the family room and one back-up. ;)
Hopefully next issue I’ll have some new pics to show everyone.
Oh and btw- my editor is on maternity leave so if you catch any typos or errors in here I put them in there so you guys have something to look for ;)

Hot Sheeter #2: “How to Create a Profit Windfall When Launching a New Product”

I thought today was an especially appropriate time to release this article (if you don’t know why you will before the end of this article).
Now unless you lived in a cave this Summer, you saw a bit of Harry Potter mania strike all over the world. In fact, I eagerly awaited the new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book release. (Yes, I’m a Harry Potter fan and devoured the new book in less than a day.) More interesting, from a business point of view – I was stunned when I saw the figures from the book’s release – 6.9M copies sold in 24 hours. Wow!
Actually,
I had my own “big” release just a few days before the boy wizard – it was for
the tapes of my “Underground Online Seminar” (these are no longer available but
you can get on the ‘wait list’ in case a set is returned here - (www.UndergroundOnlineSecrets.com/surveillance) . However, I have to admit I didn’t fare anywhere near
the multi-million dollar pay-day J.K. Rowling had but it still wasn’t too
shabby.
So what do these two releases have in common? One word…anticipation.
Whether it’s for the next blockbuster Summer movie (think Star Wars) or for Harry Potter or even your product – if you really want a big, monster payday you’ve got to create an event. I’m going to let you step behind the curtain a little bit so you can use some of these same strategies I used.
First of all, I need to give credit where credit is due. My friend, Jeff Walker, helped me formulate the plan for this release. Jeff was one of my featured speakers during the same “Underground Online Seminar” and his topic was on exactly this same point – ‘how to create six-figures in less than 7 days with a product release’.

So let’s dive right in…
Secret #1: Create Anticipation We’ve already talked about this, but let’s give it a few more specifics. I started an “early-bird” list from my subscribers and customers. I got people to raise their hands and say “Yes, I want to know first when you’ll be releasing these DVDs”.
Then once people were on this list we started ‘dripping’ on them. We used a blog to post everything from “spy photos” of the product (which came in a very cool individually numbered suitcase) to actual video clips from the event. Each communication whet the person’s appetitive more and more for the upcoming release. Please keep in mind, these updates were planned out before the start of the promotion so it wasn’t just thrown together by the seat of our pants.
Secret #2: Secure Partners Participation Over the years I’ve built up a network of friends and business associates. I don’t “hit” up my Internet friends and associates too often to promote products so most of them were eager to help with this promotion. This is the same thing you can be doing in your own marketplace. Instead of thinking of competitors – you should consider them potential promotion partners. Also start “digging your well before you are thirsty”. That means building relationships and networking with people in your industry and marketplace who have influence and carry weight.
Secret #3: Promotion Tools Everybody has too much to do and too little time to do it so the more you can “spoon-feed” your partners the better. Yes, some people will take the extra effort to do their own promotions but most people would rather have a pre-done “cut and paste” email or letter to send. That’s why I provided my partners with “content” in the form of unique video clips from the seminar which they could release to their list. This put more people on the early-bird list which were “glued” to the particular partner. Cater to everyone’s laziness and make it “fill-in-the-blank” or turn-key simple.
Secret #4: Get People Buying I wanted to make sure people were really excited about the release so we’d remind them the day before and also 1 hour before the release time. Plus, I even added a special time-limited bonus that expired after 4pm on the first day of the launch. That gave people one more incentive to order right away. You can’t stop with one notice about a launch – you’ve got to remind them multiple times when everything is happening.
Now of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are lots of little details and psychological hot buttons that go into a real successful launch. Hot Sheeter #5: Books, Tools & Resources You Need to Check Out

I try to get through at least 1 new book a week – though with the new kid and some ongoing projects my reading time has been cut a bit short. However, here’s the latest books from my overflowing bookshelf worth mentioning…
“Work Less, Make More” by Jennifer White - I really love this book! I’m on my 2nd read of it right now. It was given to me by my friend Rob and in there are some profound (yet simple) strategies for creating your business to work for you and not you working for your business. It’s not just about delegating but also about “duplicating” yourself including the very core skills you are best at. I’m at a point in my business life where I’m looking to make a transition and create more systems in place so I may even hire Jennifer’s company for coaching. You can grab this book for about $13 on Amazon.
Actually along the same lines of this book – is a great audio series by Dan Sullivan, the founder of Strategic Coach. It was recommended to me by my friend (and marketing genius) Dean Jackson. The program is from Nightingale-Conant and it’s called “Pure Genius”. Pick that one up too.

Next on the hit list is “The Game” by Neil Strauss – Now this is not a marketing book and actually my wife, Missy, was wondering what the hell I was doing reading it. It’s about the secret world of pick-up artists. Once again I have to thank Rob for this – he bought me this book when were in NYC together. (I guess we’re even though because I sprung for sushi dinner at Maso) ;)
He thought I’d find it entertaining because a few of the people I know are in the book who sell information in the dating/relationship marketplace. Yes, it was amusing to read about those guys and the way they use NLP, patterns, value-builds, etc to pick up women. But I found it even more fascinating from a marketing point of view because you can apply a lot of the same information to your customers. Get it and read it with that idea in mind and I think you’ll amazed at the nuances you pick up. These guys start with a complete stranger and sometimes can become very close with them in a matter of hours. It applies from a cold prospect to a warm & fuzzy customer.
Okay, I’ll give you just one example and then you’re on your own –
These Pick up artists routines will sometimes start by telling a story. Well, they made a point to say the story has to be by someone else which adds credibility. So there’s a copywriting lesson. If you’re using story (which is just one of the 21 Psychological hot buttons covered at www.MindMotivators.com) then you should have the story come from someone else. i.e. “My friend told me this story the other day…”

“Irresistible Offer” by Mark Joyner – Look, whether you love Mark or hate him – you have to give him credit for what the guy accomplished online. I didn’t even know about this book until a friend of mine pointed it out on Amazon. I’m about halfway through and there are some good points I haven’t seen anywhere else. So it might be worth checking out for you.
And my final book recommendation is “Don’t Shoot the Dog” by Karen Pryor – This book is about obedience training from Karen’s work as an animal trainer. But don’t be fooled that is just a dog training book. Far from it. Just like “The Game” – you’ve got to expand how this applies to business or even how to get your 4-year to eat his veggies (yes, I’m starting early) ;)

Here’s something new released from Tom Bell (Agent “eBook Millions” from the first Underground Seminar) and Tim Erway. It’s called ‘Gateway Magic’.
This is very cool (and expensive) piece of software Tom had engineered that helped him exponentially increase his sales conversions. From first glance it might appear this is nothing more than a simple way to get a prospect’s name into the sales letter after a “forced opt-in” capture. Wrong. That’s just a small part of it. There’s nothing really difficult about that - I’ve done that on my letters already for increased results. What Gateway Magic does is actually take custom data and feed it back via autoresponders, the sales letter, answering objections, customized results, etc. It’s pretty cool and worth going to the site just to see how it runs:
