Yanik's Hot Sheet April 2006

April 26, 2006

Hi,

Welcome to the next every once-in-awhile "Hot Sheet".

Whoa! I'm just now recovering from the Underground II. Once

again this event was totally SOLD-OUT weeks before it took

place while other seminars are still promoting and trying

to sell seats up until the very minute. I think it has a

lot to say about the caliber of speakers and attendees.

Personally, I was blown away with the information shared on

stage as well as the number of super successful attendees

coming out of the woodwork. I met several people sitting in

the audience who had $20M, $30M and even $50M+ Internet

businesses. Pretty impressive! (I got my secret agents

working on twisting their arms to come reveal what they're

doing for Underground III.)

I've got some secret spy pics for Hot Sheet readers posted

here - http://www.undergroundonlineseminar.com/spypics/

Most seminars these days will get the bulk of their

registrations about 3-4 weeks before the event - sometimes

people are even able to sign-up up until the very day of

the seminar. Not this one! The first Underground Online

Seminar(tm) was completely SOLD-OUT *5* weeks before the

seminar. And this second one was sold-out 6 weeks in

advance.

No doubt due to the fact I managed to uncover a secretive

group of real-people making real money online *NOT* selling

"how to make money online" info.

These 'under-the-radar' successes don't advertise their

accomplishments because they don't need to nor want to.

They are quite content to make their money "in the dark"

(while keeping their mouths shut and their secrets very

close to the vest).

I'll be releasing a very limited run of only 500 videos

from the event. I'll be spacing out the release to reward

our best customers and partners. The release will start

with the early-bird list, then move on to our customers,

then a handful of partners will each get a small allotment

if anything is left. If you'd like to be the first one

notified when the tapes are ready just sign up here:

http://www.UndergroundOnlineSeminar.com

Also, I've been persuaded to do the first Underground UK

seminar this September. We'll be releasing seats soon to

this smaller event across "the pond". We're bringing in

all-new "rogue agents" from the UK and Europe agreeing to

break their silence. What's more, I've got Mr. Ted Nicholas

coming in for a bonus session. Ted's one of my first 3

mentors and I'm extremely excited about having him there.

If you'd like to be notified first - send a blank email to

I'm proud to say Zak is now sitting up by himself.

Actually, he's pretty obsessed with it - now that's all he

wants to do in his crib. It's exciting to see him grow up

and I've been snapping some new pics that I've put up here:

(My new favorite one is him smiling behind his pacifier.)

It's Missy's 35th Bday this Friday (April 28) so I told her

I'd give her a "plug" for her website -

www.InstantThankYouLetters.com :)

Plus, I'll be taking her to one of her favorite spas -

Nemocolin in PA. Hey, it's even a pretty cool place even

for guys. Last time I was there I had my the very best

Venison medallions ever. Yummy! I'll definitely be ordering

that again this time. Plus, they've added a new HUMMER

course on the site. I'll be trying that with my brother-in-

law, Rod. He owns a big Expedition so it won't be a big

difference for him - for me, it'll quite a change from the

convertible.

Speaking of cars, I just got a chance to test drive the new

Aston Martin I have on order. My buddy, Rob, and I test

drove a bright canary yellow one. It definitely got some

stares. I'm not quite that bold - mine is a greenish/gray

standard Aston color. The car was incredibly responsive and

took corners like it was glued to the road. I'm looking

forward to getting mine (finally!) - they just told me the

factory is 2 months behind. Oh well. Hopefully, it will be

here before the Underground UK in September because the

prize at that event is taking 3 people to the Aston test

track. Should be fun!

And finally my editor, AKA Missy, has decided to remain on

"maternity" leave so if you catch any typos or errors in

here I put them in here on purpose so you guys have

something to look for ;)

Alright, let's get down to business with our April Hot

Sheet...

What's Yanik's Hot Sheet, you ask?

Good question.

You see, I spend tons of money buying new information

(about $50,000.00 last year), checking out new products,

attending seminars, reviewing material people send, reading

a bunch of books and newsletters, etc. etc. So I've decided

to share with you what's new, what's hot and what's going

on inside this periodic newsletter.

You'll find this filled with resources, tips, and stuff I

recommend. You'll only hear from me when I've got some cool

stuff to share (unless you tell me to bug off by clicking

the link at the bottom). :)

Hot Sheeter #1:

First (and probably last) Ever Information Marketing

'Players' workshop

http://www.surefiremarketing.com/infoworkshop

---------------------------------------

I'm doing which might be a little crazy...

I'm putting on my first (and probably last) ever

Information Marketing 'Players' workshop. Only 50 people

will ever hear my entire collection of information

marketing secrets that have made me $10M+

Okay, now that's not the crazy part...

The thing that has my marketing buddies calling me nuts is

that you can actually get in here 2 ways (and one of them

is completely and totally free)!

Why am I doing this?

Actually, I've got 5 true (and surprising) reasons I'm

finally revealing all. But you can't wait because there's a

short fuse on this because the event is June 23 & 24 - so

you need to check it out immediately

Hot Sheeter #2: Public Domain Goldmine (tm)

 Nearly SOLD-OUT

 http://www.publicdomaingoldmine.com/vol8/

---------------------------------------

Some of you might have seen my newest release - "Public

Domain Riches Gold Mine". This is so hot that Volume I -

VII have now all sold out. (In fact, the longest time one

was on the market was 19 days after release and that was a

holiday weekend.)

The Gold Mine package contains 35 'how to' works in 35

different high-demand and high-profit potential niches.

Plus, just about everything you need for each niche

including keyword analysis and market research. The latest

volume (#8) is almost sold-out again so you might able to

grab one of the remaining copies if you hurry. Last count

there were 52 sets left.

Feature Article

Hot Sheeter #3:

Creating True 'Win-Win' Joint Ventures Online

By Yanik Silver

---------------------------------------

You'll hear the word "JV" tossed around and bantered about

- but most people use it completely wrong. In my opinion, a

true joint venture is a partnership when 2 or more parties

come together to create something that's better & bigger

than what they could do on their own.

Partnerships and real joint ventures have been very, very

good to me. To the tune of millions of dollars in extra

sales from it. In fact, this is has been one of the driving

forces behind my business growth without hiring additional

employees.

I don't have room to cover all aspects of joint ventures

but I want to introduce to one idea that could have a

significant impact on your bottom line.

Joint Venture on Services

Think of all the money producing tasks that you don't have

time to do or you don't have the affinity for. Here's a

quick list off the top of my head…

* AdWords/PPC  * Direct Mail  * Product Launches * Buying

Advertising * Testing * Telemarketing * Affiliate

Management & Recruitment * Product Creation * Search engine

optimization * Publicity * Copywriting * Coaching, etc…

Each of these and more can become a joint venture of sorts

with trusted individuals who will help you make more than

you could make on your own. In fact, that's one of the

criteria for a good joint venture for a service is a task

that can be paid out of additional profits and measured

that way. I like that.

For example, I know one information marketer who joint

ventured with a telemarketer to run a phone room. He pays

them a large percentage per sale for the events and high-

end products they sells and that's it. This venture brings

in millions and millions of dollars of additional revenue

but he doesn't have the headache of babysitting and

training a bunch of telemarketers. Or if I joint venture

with a partner to do search engine optimization for my

sites it's a pretty clean relationship because I can simply

give them their own affiliate id# and let them have at it.

Personally I've worked with several partners on these

service joint ventures. The first one is with a friend of

mine, Rob Olic, to help me run all my direct mailings.

Side note: I've harped on this before. If you are only

using email and online marketing you are missing serious

revenues and not maximizing your profit.

Now I don't feel like tweaking copy, handling my mailing

list, coordinating with vendors, etc. If I had employees

this would be a function of one of them - but since I don't

want employees at the moment I've gone to partnerships.

So Rob does all those duties to make sure the piece gets in

the mail. He's also a good copywriter so he's written the

teasers on envelopes, lift-notes, etc. The little things

needed to get a good direct mail piece out. Now I pay Rob

based on results. I think that's the best way because we

are both in it together. If I do well - he does well.

I pay him a percentage of profits - which is figured by

gross sales from the promotion less mailing costs

(postage/printing/graphics), credit card fees and cost of

goods. Rob also has a sliding scale of percentage depending

on the total volume of sales generating via direct mail.

Now if the direct mail is a postcard that drives people

online - I just give him an affiliate id# to track the

sales.

Product Launch Partnership -The other experience with

partnering up on a service was just recently for the

Underground DVD launch. I recruited one of my former

Apprentices, Chris Zavadowski, to help coordinate and run

the promotion launch. Chris was someone I knew who got

things done from working one-on-one with him. I approached

him and offered a percentage of gross sales from the launch

for taking care of activities like running my blog, posting

to my blog, helping with messages on the blog, get the

video clips edited & online, coordinating with affiliate

partners (we had individual pages/links for each partner),

working with my tech guy, etc. Basically all the details

and things I didn't want to do. Chris was happy because he

got a chance to work with me and learn some new things and

I was happy because I was off running with the bulls in

Spain one week before the launch and things were running

without me.

Now one of the secrets was I wasn't greedy. I gave Chris a

very fair percentage of the sales. I don't want to reveal

the specific percentage but put it this way - it was enough

to buy him a new car.

The other key aspect of working with partner on a service

is to be specific in their duties and how they are going to

be paid. You don't want to people upset because of a

misunderstanding later on. Chris knew he was paid on every

DVD set sold except those sold via direct mail because Rob

was paid on that.

The other thing a good joint venture service partner brings

are their own ideas and initiatives. Chris helped me come

up with the idea behind the "real-time inventory countdown

script" - and he spearheaded developing the whole thing on

RentACoder.com.

One last point I want to leave you with is to get your

agreement in writing. Even if you are best friends with

your joint venture partner - it's always best to get in

writing (especially if you want to remain a friend).

Memories fail but a nice simple written agreement helps

alleviate discrepancies. Even if you just email your

partner the key points to an agreement that's better than

nothing in writing

Books, Tools & Resources You Need to Check Out

Here are the latest books I've read that are worth

mentioning...

On a quick flight I polished off "All Marketers are Liars"

and "Purple Cow" from Seth Godin. Some good stuff in each

one and worth picking up.

Inspired by the true story of a flight with Sir Richard

Branson - a gentleman I met in London last year put out

"Millionaire Upgrade" as a "real" book. It's got some good,

basic business advice in there. Probably most useful for

someone just getting starting in business. You can get it

A few months ago I did an interview for the "Achiever's

Edge" conducted by Peter Thomson. This is a very good

monthly audio CD that comes with excerpts of different

Nightingale-Conant products plus exclusive interviews and

information Peter provides. It's worth checking out - and

right now Peter is letting you "test drive" it for just a

s/h charge of $4.97. http://www.theachieversedge.com/yes

**

Dr.Mani Sivasubramanian, heart surgeon and webmaster of

'Heart Disease Online' has joined an effort to help

children with birth defects of the heart receive life-

saving treatment. I was supposed to help spread the message

for Valentine's Day but since this is my "ever once

awhile" newsletter- hopefully it's better late than never.

2 Interesting domains available for sale. I don't normally

do this - but I'm doing a favor for an author-friend of

mine. Shel Horowitz bought these domains but never

developed them - I don't know what he wants for them.

That's between you and him (I don't get anything out of

it). Either drop him a line here -shel@frugalfun.com?

Here's something pretty cool! I had a good time at the 'Big

Seminar' hosted by Armand Morin. At the event, Armand was

telling me about what his plans were for conquering the

Music world using "our" kind of marketing. It was pretty

intriguing.

In fact, you should check out this page to see one of the

things Armand's doing to drive his sales. The video he's

put on is very neat! And while you're there - why not, grab

a pair of CDs. In fact, the music is pretty good (and I'm

not really much of a Country music fan).
