Yanik's Hot Sheet September 2004
Septemeber 8, 2004
Dear Friend,
Hi gang!
Can you believe summer is gone! It seems that time really does fly as you get older (heck, I’m only 30 still) :)
Well I’m trying to squeeze in a few really cool adventure
trips I’ve been putting off and meaning to do. I’m going rafting down the
“Beast of the East”, Gauley River in West Virginia. It should be pretty
intense. In fact, here’s a quote from Neil Armstrong, fighter pilot, test pilot
and the first man to walk on the moon, describing his Gauley River trip:
Also, I may be going HALO skydiving this month. HALO stands for “High Altitude, Low Opening” and that’s where you jump out from 30,000 feet instead of 15,000 like a normal sky-dive. You have to breathe using an oxygen mask because you are higher than the peak of Mt. Everest. So far I can’t find any takers to do this with me. Hmmmm….wonder why. ;)
I’m considering doing either a newsletter or a book on Extreme adventure travel. You’ll hear more about it as it develops. But the tentative title is something like “The Biggest, Baddest and Ballsiest Adventure Trips To Take Before You Die”. I’m open to suggestions.
And be sure to look for pictures when I get back (hopefully safe and sound) from these trips…
Speaking of pictures, you’ll get a kick out this: http://www.HowToGetAnythingYouWant.com/VivaLasVegas.html
I took my Mom to Las Vegas and met up with my buddy, Jim Edwards. Yes, that’s really me in the pink tuxedo. (haha – you have to find out why after watching Jim’s video.)
Anyway, let’s get down to business with September’s Hot Sheet…
What's Yanik's Hot Sheet, you ask?
Good question.
You see, I spend tons of money buying new information (about $30,000.00 last year), checking out new products, attending seminars, reviewing material people send, reading a bunch of books and newsletters, etc. etc. So I've decided to share with you what's new, what's hot and what's going on inside this periodic newsletter.
You'll find this filled with resources, tips, and stuff I recommend. You'll only hear from me when I've got some cool stuff to share (unless you tell me to bug off by clicking the link at the bottom). :)

Hot Sheeter #1: Public Domain Riches Gold Mine – SOLD OUT
---------------------------------------
Some of you might have seen my newest release – “Public Domain Riches Gold Mine”. This is so hot that Volume I and II sold out just days after briefly mentioning them to a tiny list! Because the orders came in so fast we didn’t send out the notice to everyone on my list or else they would be too many disappointed people.
The Gold Mine package contains 35 ‘how to’ works in 35 different high-demand and high-profit potential niches. Plus, just about everything you need for each niche including keyword analysis and market research.
Sorry you missed out – but you can get first chance when we release Volume III with 35 all-new and totally different works by heading here – http://www.PublicDomainGoldMine.com
--------------------------------------
Feature Article Hot Sheeter #2: Three Inner Secrets of Internet Success
---------------------------------------
In only a few short months I’ve achieved the ultimate Internet “fantasy” of making a lot of money from a simple (almost primitive) web site that runs itself virtually on complete autopilot. Starting from scratch I banked over $51,351.94 my first 6 ½ months online, just working part-time out of the corner of my living room.
Now today at age 31, I’ve gone on to earn over 7-figures.
How did I go from a standing start to banking mega profits?
To do that, what I think you really need are these inner secrets to mega internet success. This has nothing to do with search engines, pay-per-clicks. It doesn’t have anything to do with any of the tactical stuff. It’s all a lot of stuff that goes on in your head. So let’s start… Secret #1: Cheerful Expectancy One of my biggest mentors is Earl Nightingale. He passed away several years ago but you need to get everything he recorded at Nightingale.com. He has a program called “Lead The Field” and “The Strangest Secret.” Just listen to that thing over and over again. He talks about cheerful expectancy.
There’s a big difference between having expectancy versus hoping or wishing something is going to occur. When you have that cheerful expectancy, you know it’s going to occur. And that doesn’t just come from being “Pollyannaish” or having rose-colored glasses. It comes from having knowledge. And you get that knowledge from studying in your field whatever it is. It could be Internet marketing or it could be neurology. That means reading, studying and buying everything and absolutely immersing yourself in it.
I learned from Earl Nightingale that if you want to be an expert, you spend an hour a day reading on whatever subject that you’re interested in, that you want to be an expert on. So I said, “Well, what would happen if I read for three hours a day?”
I just started learning as much as I possibly could, and that knowledge gives you the confidence to know that you have that positive expectancy. Your expectations determine your results.
Secret #2: Do one proactive thing a day
You don’t need to do 100 things a day. Just get that one proactive thing a day. So each little brick builds a big wall for you. Trust me it’s easy to be overwhelmed with hundreds of tasks. You’re like, “Oh, we need to do e-zine ads and free-for-alls and pay-per-click search engines, and I need to do all this other stuff.” Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
But just relax and do one task a day.
Your action will create more and more and more action for you. You simply need to make a commitment to do one proactive thing a day no matter what. Even if you’re dead tired and worked a 14-hour day – come home and mail one letter or send out one joint venture proposal. I’m telling you – just these little tiny proactive things will have an immense impact.
Most everyone has heard of the ‘80/20 rule’ or the Pareto Principle. It says that 20% of your actions produce 80% of your results, and the other way around. 80% of your work only creates 20% of your results.
So go back and look where your successes came from, and I know that they’re from a tiny little group of actions. So if you just get that one proactive thing a day (from the 20% group) that is going to propel you further, that’s going to bring you to where you want to be.
Make it a point to focus on those “20% activities”. In Stephen Covey’s famous work “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” he calls these activities “important but not urgent”.
One of my Apprentices, Peter Woodhead (www.LongLostMarketingSecrets.com), from the UK is a perfect example of simply doing one proactive thing a day. A lot of Apprentices bolted out of the gate during our one year program but Peter was an Internet newbie and he also had a full time job so he was a bit slower getting started. However, he took my advice and simply managed to do one proactive thing every single day. No matter how big or how small. It could be writing one autoresponder message or it might have been writing 50 headlines. No matter the day – Peter was moving ahead. And not surprisingly his project was completed before many of the other Apprentices were finished.
Secret #3: Decision
This is such a big point. A lot of people have so many problems with decision. That’s because they don’t like it because it cuts off other options. But frankly that’s exactly what you want. You want to cut off other options.
One of our top apprentices, Cindy Kappler (www.WebAdMagic.com), had no other option but to succeed because she quit her job. Now I’m not encouraging you to do that if you still have a real job but it does prove if you cut off your options, you’re much more motivated. Successful people make decisions quickly.
There’s a magic of attraction when you make your decision. However, when you’re hemming and hawing, you don’t experience this magic. I don’t want to get into too much woo-woo or metaphysical or spiritual stuff.
But there’s this magic of attraction. I can’t even explain it. When you set your mind up that you’re going to do this, all of a sudden, at the next dinner party you’re attending you meet somebody that can help you get to where you want to go. Is that luck or is that something else?
I don’t think it’s luck.
It’s like once the decision is made your mind is tuned into the solution and all kinds of ‘freaky’ coincidences and occurrences happen.
And that brings me to another important point about decisions – fail quickly. Don’t be afraid of failure. A lot of people are so afraid of screwing up, or making a mistake that they are forever frozen. Who the hell cares? Screw up quickly! I screw up all the time. And you want to fail quickly.
That’s the great part about the Internet. You want to go out there and find out if your dumb idea is going to work right away. You can do it in days instead of months. Sometimes hours and if it doesn’t work, you move on. You say, “Next!”
Look, I know a lot of people who are working on their products for the last two, three, four years. Get the damned thing out! You just make it better as you go along.
Instant Sales Letters, our first product was not where it is now. We’ve added a ton of stuff to it and made it better. But I just wanted to see if the thing was going to sell.
It wasn’t complete and utter rubbish, as my British friends say, but it was enough that it made the point. It found out if there was a marketplace for it. So find out.
Some people like to go around at dinner parties and so on and say, “I’m writing a book. I’ve been writing a book for five years. I’m an author.”
Uh huh. I can show you 6 different ways to have your book done in days. It’s a cop-out and complete B.S. Bottom line – make the decision to get the product out there. See what happens and fail quickly.
Now get out there and do it!

Hot Sheeter #3: Your Help for a Great Cause
-------------------------------------------------
Last year I met a gentleman named Frank Lunn at a publicity summit. He had written a great business book called “Stacking the Logs”. We got to talking and he told me about his son, Frankie, and the ordeal his family had been through. Frankie was diagnosed with Leukemia and treated at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Today, I’m happy to say 11-year old Frankie is cancer-free. And Frank set an audacious goal of raising one million for St. Jude’s. There is a very special offer with all the proceeds going to the hospital. Check it out:

Hot Sheeter #5: Copy Seminar Workshop Update
-------------------------------------------------
Speaking of copywriting secrets – I just completed the most intense and grueling 2 1/2 days of my life. I literally sucked absolutely every shred of copywriting info and poured into my $3,975.00 per person Internet Copywriting Workshop.
Here are a couple comments from students already putting their new copywriting secrets into action:
“Although I’ve attended many expensive seminars and workshops in the recent years, yours was the most profitable. In the first few hours, you absolutely overwhelmed me with manuals, tools and examples I couldn’t find from any other source. My estimate of the value from the one “Big Idea” about mind mapping will be $75,000, maybe $100,000.” – Ted Thomas, Merritt Island, FL
“…Your ‘hotseat’ suggestion…has more than doubled sales of that item in the week it has been up.” – Bob Bruss, Hillsborough, CA
“At the end of the first day of your workshop we used the hotel’s internet connection and made changes to one of our websites (based solely on what we learned earlier in the day). By the third day we saw an opt-in increase of 24%! Our conversion rate is improving as well - this means even if this is ALL WE DO - on this ONE site, the cost of your workshop will pay for itself by the end of the month. Very impressive.”
- Russell Benefield, Hillsboro
Beach, FL Listen, your mastery of copywriting is the ultimate form of financial security and profit potential. It doesn’t matter what kind of business you have or what you sell – copywriting is the skill that WILL be of the greatest value to you.
I really busted my butt on this workshop - the manuals alone were over 1200 pages! And right now we’re in the process of putting together the DVDs and audios (and probably a few extras). The price hasn’t been set yet for these seminar tapes but it’s definitely not going to be cheap. Nor should it because this deals only with a very specific and specialized topic. This is strictly advanced education that is NOT for everyone so it merits being pricey.
Plus, I’m considering putting a strict limit on the amount of sets released. So if you’re interested in getting first notification when the package is ready – just send a blank email to: mailto:copyworkshop@aweber.com

Hot Sheeter #6: John Reese takes over the Internet?
-------------------------------------------------
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you must have seen the massive onslaught of promotion for John Reese’s ‘Traffic Secrets’ package. As a good friend of John’s I was privy to a good deal of insider information on his “million dollar day”. Yes, John publicly revealed he sold over $1,000,000 in just one day. Pretty amazing!
Listen, even if you’ve already bought John’s course or have absolutely no intention of buying -- you really should read a special report I put together on it. Because inside it details the 5 big lessons to take away and apply to your business to create these huge profit windfalls on demand.
Here’s the special link http://www.surefiremarketing.com/bigmarketinglesson.html
On another note, the John Reese release really showed an ugly side to the Internet marketing world. There was a whole lot of “bashing” going on in the forums. Whether is was brought on by jealously or just plain hostility doesn’t matter. Negativity only feeds on itself and attracts more negativity. It’s interesting to read how different people react to the exact same events in completely opposite ways.
I remember one posting on a popular board talking about how he had unsubscribed from every major marketer’s newsletter after receiving all the pitches for John’s Traffic Secrets. While another poster in the same thread said he saved every single email (except the obvious cut and paste ones) in his swipe file to learn from. Hmm….same events – different mindsets. It’s really no wonder why only a small percentage of people are successful.
-------------------------------------------------
Hot Sheeter #7: Books, Tools & Resources You Need to Check Out
-------------------------------------------------
During the Summer I’ve read and reviewed quite a few things – but only a few worth noting.
First and foremost are Dan Kennedy’s newest books. He has 3 “No B.S.” books out right now: No B.S. Sales Success, No B.S. Time Management and No B.S. Business Success. These books are each like $10 and it’s going to be the absolute best ten bucks you’ve ever spent. Get them from Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
Dan Kennedy is my #1 mentor and business advisor and I recommend absolutely everything he has out there. BTW – if you haven’t signed up for Dan’s newsletter (in which I write a monthly article on Internet marketing) you definitely need to subscribe to the free 3-month trial. You only pay $5.95 for s/h. It’s a total steal.
http://www.dk3monthspecial.com/trial/
I’ve re-read Breathrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz for the sixth time. What an exceptional book. Schwartz was a true copywriting genius and it took me several readings to really get a good grasp on many of his concepts.
I only heard whisperings of this book when I started in marketing. I tried in vain to look it up online and find it anywhere. No luck. Finally, I trekked down to the library of Congress in Washington, DC and found the book. I believe it has been re-published and available is finally available on Amazon now for $95. I say grab it! Or if you want the “graduate” level education on for just a little bit more – Agora (the newsletter powerhouse) has a special teleseminar series that I was honored to be part of: http://www.agora-inc.com/reports/700SGSBA/W700E637/ Another really good read I can recommend is The Practice of Happiness by John Kehoe. This small little book really makes you think and enjoy everything around you more. I let my wife, Missy, read it and she really loved it too. It’s only about 130 pages but each page really reminds me of a universal truth or reminds me of something I should be happy for. You might also check out John’s other books on Mind Power. * * *
Are you using audio on your website? If not, you might be missing the boat and letting profits slip through your fingers. The truth is I’ve seen some sites increase their selling power by adding audio and others it decreased results. So you have to test it for yourself – but it definitely adds another dimension to your site. Some of my colleagues who I really respect have tested audio on their order pages, exit pop-ups, testimonials, etc and seen stellar results. It’s worth a test and it only costs you $1 to get started for a whole month here: http://SurefireAudio.com

With everything I know and have seen on Internet marketing, I've never really messed around with search engine optimization. To me, it seemed too complicated, too confusing and just too "techie mumbo-jumbo".
Definitely not for me.
Of course I realized I was missing out on tons of targeted traffic. As you know, a good position in a search engine can drive huge volumes of highly targeted, highly qualified traffic right to your site. And once you've got that top rank, the traffic just keeps pouring in. But the big problem is getting that top position can be a huge, time consuming task. Plus, I really had no interest in learning about something that keeps changing every time the wind blows.
Until now...
I met a guy named Brad Fallon recently at a seminar and he told me he's on track to make over a million dollars this year from his Yahoo store. (He brought in $157,037.00 in June alone). And it's all because the store has 15 first- page positions in both Yahoo! and Google. The real kicker is he's selling wedding favors. I mean come on…that's unbelievable.
Check it out for yourself and you can see even more proof you can do this.

My friend, Armand Morin is hosted his next “Big Seminar” in Los Angeles, CA October 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. The real reason you want to attend these kind of seminars is mainly for the networking (yes, the presenters are awesome) but I always get a lot out of the ‘extracurricular’ activities. It’s up in the air if I can make this one – but I strongly recommend attending if you can. http://www.bigseminar.com/yanik

Are you overlooking one of the most valuable pieces of “digital” real estate you have? Most people are. I’m talking about the ‘thank you’ pages on their sites. If you’re selling a digital info product – this is a pretty cool resource: http://www.thankyouads.com/ysilver.php
