Welcome to the last “Hot Sheet” of the year. This one is going to be a doozie. Lots of fun and profitable stuff going on that I gotta share with you.

 

First off, Missy and I just got back from 2 weeks “down under”. What an amazing trip. We spent 1 week in Sydney for Mal Emery’s Information Marketing Summit where we got to meet a bunch of our Australian and Kiwi customers, plus make some new friends or “mates”. :)

 

Then we spent the next week in New Zealand, mostly in Queenstown in the South island. That made our trip. What an incredible spot. That’s where they filmed “Lord of the Rings” and I understand why. Not only is Queenstown known for its spectactular scenery but also as as the “adrenaline captial of the world”. There were so many things to do there that it made my head spin.

 

I couldn’t pass up that chance to try and get as much crammed into our trip as possible. I did 3 bungee jumps (one from 440 feet), 3 canyon swings, 1 ‘fly-by-wire’ and 1 ‘red bull’ aerobatic plane flight. You have to check out some of these pictures – they’re pretty cool. We alternated between “Yanik adventure” days and “Missy relaxing” days. On Missy days we got massages and then went to a sheep farm (check out“Louie the lamb” in the pictures). ;)

I’m going to do something a little different this time. I’ve gathered some of the recent questions people have emailed over. Instead of just answering them one-on-one – you guys all get the benefit of these answers…

 

Q: Yes, I have probably not a common question about your direct mail sales letter package:

As a marketing consultant and copywriter, I have really studied and learned the specialties of direct mail and created several successful direct mail campaign packages.  Will this give me added marketing info power or will it mostly be redundant?  I would feel rude about sending it back.

YS: Sure, that's a valid question. I've had some
very veteran copywriters order the Instant Sales letters package and
say the one "ultimate sales letter" bonus was worth
everything and more. However, I won't be offended if
you send it back. I don't want anyone keeping it who doesn't
benefit from it.

Q: I have Volume 2 of Public Domain Gold Mine and am working on <one of the works title>. I am not particularly technical,but have created some web sites.
I seem to have an issue with this ebook.I have tried to email it to another account,but I am told it is too big (almost 6MB).I may be able to resolve this with my ISP,but I am worried that buyers may not be able to download the ebook/I have zipped the book but it is still very large. Does anybody else have this problem?
Can you advise me of a solution. Regards, John H.

 

YS: If it's 6mb that isn't that big if people are downloading it.
However you can break it up into part 1 and part 2. We've
done that before and people have no problem with that. I did that for my figure drawing project. I took each section and made it their own download – otherwise the files would be huge.

would pertain to me and help me succeed in sales.

YS: While we may not have a letter for that exact industry, we have many letters that you can get ideas from or model after for your business.

 

-- Note: This is probably the biggest question we get about our sales letter templates. Everybody thinks their business is “different”. That’s just not the case. If you want more customers/patients/clients, want them to refer, want them to purchase again, etc. Our stuff works. There plain and simple.

Q: I keep reading articles that say test the market for
this, test the market for that, but no one ever says
'how' or 'where' to do this.

I realize you and the other power webmasters easily
understand the terminology. Unfortunately, us
fledgling wanna-be-gurus out here, have no idea where
or how to start.

YS: There are several ways to test the market

1. Promote someone else's product in the same marketplace
and see what/if they buy (i.e. as an affiliate)
2. See if there is competition. Competition is good actually because that means other people are purchasing products in the same marketplace. Most people want something without competition – that’s wrong.
3. Get something small out there and see if anybody buys. Basically just start small and test the waters is the best way. You can always ramp up later on once you know your project has life in it.

Q: Hi, I purchased the PublicDomainRiches.com. If someone could answer this
question, I would greatly appreciate it. It was mentioned that between 1923
and 1964, if a published work didn't have a (c),copyright date and the
person who copyrighted it was in the public domain. What about if it has
everthing instead it states copyright pending not a date. Is this in the
public domain also? I would appreciate again if you could let me know.

YS: Of course, I’m not an attorney however copyright pending - is something I'm not sure about. I would take whatever date the pending date says and use that as the copyright date.

Hot Sheeter #5: Apprentice Success Stories

This year’s crop of Apprentices are doing great. Jim Edwards and I have been working with them to create their own products and start building their information empires. We’ve had some pretty impressive results so far. Here are just a couple:

 

1. David Chandler and his partner, Kaye Murray, from Australia selling their unique stock market system they developed for $197 US…and it’s all digital. Since September they’ve sold over 183 sets. Well done!

 

You’ll want to check this out as an example but also to if you have any interest in investing this is a proven approach that is really starting to get big results for their students. 2. Abby Rohrer from Colorado has proven you can tap into a niche (that has nothing to do with Internet marketing or even m.a.k.i.n.g money) and do very well at it. Her marketplace consists of people struggling with the obsessive compulsive disorder of pulling hair (Trichotillomania). Abby had solved this problem herself and now is selling a solution on her site - http://www.stophairpulling.com. She doesn’t feel comfortable releasing her numbers but I can tell it’s very, very good for a $40 ebook.

 

Originally, Abby wanted to sell to all obsessive compulsive discorders but Jim and I made her focus on just this niche for now. She has the most affinity with this group because of her personal story. There is still room here to increase her profits since Abby is working on higher-end products for this niche. After that, she will expand out to different niches. One of the big lessons here is focus to a tight niche and having solutions to people’s problems. Online information buyers will pay for solutions – but rarely will they pay for cures. If they are in pain – and you stop their pain – they will reward you for it.

 

3. Romy Marcias is our one and only Apprentice from Mexico. She took a public domain work and created a derivative work out of it for her first information product. Her site is here http://www.SuccessSecretsforWomen.com

 

She’s just starting to get good results from the limited amount of promotions going on. Romy niched her product to be just for women (though men are welcome to buy it). She found a very hard-to-locate public domain work and made it her own by adding comments to the text. Public domain is a great shortcut to creating your own information product. And the works she put together really are a wonderful collection of wisdom for success, health, wealth, wisdom and spiritual abundance written when woman weren’t supposed to be authors. Lots of people have emailed and asked us at seminars if we are going to hold another Apprentice program again next year. The answer is ‘maybe’. It’s a great deal of time investment to work one-on-one with people throughout the year. But on the other hand, it is very rewarding to be part of so many success stories and see how thankful our Apprentices are. Plus, many times Jim and I make new friends and business partners from the experience. In fact, one of my most successful Apprentices from 2003, Larry Brown, and I are working together to revamp my Cosmetic Surgeon marketing package. So if we do decide to open up another Apprentice program for 2005 we’ll let you know.

You Need to Check Out

I’ve been swamped with a couple projects and traveling a bit so I haven’t been reading as much as I want to – but I plan on catching up during the Holidays. Here are a few of the books I’ve been reading lately that I’ve been impressed with:

The NO B.S. Series by Dan Kennedy – I mentioned this last time but I wanted to mention it one more time. These books are absolute bargains at less than $10/each. Dan has one on sales success, one on entrepreneurship, and one on time management. I spend tens of thousands with Dan each year and even these books have new info in there for me. Just get them. “The Definitive Book on Body Language” is a self-published book by an Australian couple, Allan and Barbara Pease. My friend Matt Furey turned me onto this book on the plane from Sydney to New Zealand. It’s the most comprehensive book I’ve seen on how to really read people’s true body language. Very powerful stuff – especially if you realize verbal communications only count for a tiny % of the message we deliver.

I couldn’t find this book on Amazon so I had to order directly from an Australian bookseller – www.Dymocks.com.au (BTW – most people would have forgotten about the book if it wasn’t conveniently available but I kept looking for it online.)

Next, I’ve really been studying and using a lot of Mind Maps. For a good introduction to mind maps – check out “The Mind Map Book” by Tony Buzan (that one is available from Amazon). I prefer paper and ink for my mind maps – but I did buy a piece of software from www.MindJet.com. This has been incredibly helpful as I work on a major new project of revamping my cosmetic surgeon business with my partner, Larry. It makes it easy to see the whole big picture.
