Yanik Silver's Recommended Internet Marketing Resources

Many people ask me who I recommend for all kinds of services and products. I don't give recommendations lightly. I have to either have used the resource myself or had direct experience from a trusted colleague.

Web Site Resources:

Web Site Hosting
Digital 360 has a great package for beginners or veterans. Their support is actually accessible. Trust me, that means a heck of a lot.

Domain Registration:
I really like 'Ultimate Discount Domains' - they have an easy to use interface that lets you manage all your accounts and quickly and easily change servers. Plus, you can set-up mirrors, forwards, control emails, etc all for a very low price.

Autoresponders
The best value for reliability and features is Aweber in my book. You can do 'broadcasts' to unlimited numbers of subscribers to your list. Plus, there is a great tracking system (among other terrific features) that makes this my #1 pick:

Web Design
I have no clue how to put up my own website - and you don't need to either. Here's a recommended resource to help put up your site who understands how to integrate all our tools and make your site sell.

Do-it-yourself Web Building
Make Mini Sites is the absolute best tutorial if you want to put up your own mini-sites or affiliate sites. This CD tutorial resources gives you all the nuts and bolts instruction everybody else glosses over.

Merchant Account
98% of our orders come through people paying by credit cards. Unless you can accept credit cards you'll lose a ton of business. The ‘secret’ solution a lot of have turned to is Jud Smith. He’s the same guy many of us turn to when we need a merchant account fast…and one that can handle high-volumes! Personally, I’ve been recommending him over and over again to my friends and best clients.

Tell a Friend Software
Prospects who have been referred to your site by someone they trust will buy faster, buy more, and are generally better customers. This "TAFPro" software allows you to do far more than the standard tell-a-friend script, including online referral contests.

Affiliate Software
Our affiliate program is absolutely, positively one of the most important elements of our success. Once you have a site that sells - it's time to create a winning affiliate program. (If you haven't read 'Instant Internet Profits' - you must before starting your affiliate program). The software I use to run my program is Synergyx. This is my third software I'm on and let me tell you switching is not fun - so it's better to pay a little more the first time around and do it right!

Shopping Cart Software
There are really 2 ways to go. I've pieced different products together because of certain features I like in each. Or you can get an all-in-one solution that was built by marketers for marketers. I've been impressed with the evolution of this software over the last few months and the dependability (which used to be an issue) is very good now. If you're looking for a simple way to put everything you need in one simple package this it - plus you get a 30-day test drive for only a couple bucks.

Tracking
Unless you're tracking your visitors you're simply flying blind. You need to be able to know how many unique visitors you get to your site so you can do your numbers. An easy (and inexpensive) solution for tracking web site visitors is here:

Search Engine Promotion:
Here's a simple and easy-to-follow resource for getting to the top of the search engines.

Also, you should consider Pay-per-click Search Engines because you can drive traffic immediately to your site without messing around with any submission guidelines or rules that keep changing:

Email Marketing:
Here is an incredible swipe file to study before sending out any emails

When I do broadcasts to my list, I use my autoresponder service - but I also use a great piece of software to send personalized emails to a smaller, more select group of customers. It runs right off your own computer:

Ezine Advertising:
Advertising in ezines is a great way to immediately drive traffic to your site for cheap. When looking for places to advertise I check 3 spots:

Directory of Ezines:

Ezine Ad Auctions:
You can bid on ezines you'd like to advertise in. I've been really impressed with the value here.

Co-registration Names:
If you have some money and a proven sales system - you should definitely explore buying subscriber names. You pay for each email address (opt-in only) and not for each visitor. So that means you can keep marketing to this list over and over again. I'm testing several right now but this is the first one I've had good results with:

Ebook Marketing:
Using either free or paid ebooks to create a viral traffic explosion is one of my favorite ways to market online.

I create most of my ebooks in Adobe PDF. This is a cross-platform (between Windows and MAC). You'll need the full version of Adobe Acrobat which is available from any online software retailer. Or you can go to: www.adobe.com/acrobat and have 5 files distilled into PDF for free.

For ebook cover designs I use this gentleman in New Zealand. I think he's awesome!

Surveys:
Instead of guessing what your customers want to buy - why not ask them? This powerful software makes it easy:

Misc:
One of my absolute favorite resources for finding people to do work for me (almost any kind) is at Elance. It's a place where you can post a job and people will actually bid to win your work. It's great. I've had ebooks written, graphic work done, CD-rom created and lots more…

AdToons - Have a customized cartoon made for you that can be used to help increase your opt-in signups. Vince Palko creates funny and engaging cartoons for Internet entrepreneurs- that stick in the minds of consumers for a long time. Vince made one for me and it's pretty slick.

"TeleConferencing" - Voicetext is the company I use when recording one-on-one interviews or hosting conference calls for 1,000+ people. They will record, FTP and send you a CD if you like. Plus, even act as question moderators.

The Online Business Bureau is a better alternative for consumers to investigate whether a business is legitimate. Membership dues are much less than the BBB charges. Specialize in rating companies that do business online through a website. Give your visitors the added protection of the OBB seal.
